For eighteen years I've worked as a nurse — most of it in med-surg and ICU, where you learn very quickly how fast life moves and how little of it gets slowed down and kept. I started J Witt Photography because I wanted to be the person who slows a moment down for other families, the way I always wished someone would for mine.
I'm based in the Texoma area — Durant, Oklahoma and Sherman, Texas — and I photograph the people here the way I'd want my own family photographed: unrushed, a little imperfect, and printed somewhere you'll actually see it.
A file sits in a camera roll behind three thousand other photos. A print hangs in your hallway and gets looked at for years. Every J Witt collection is built around getting the image off the screen and onto your wall — because that's the version of the photo your family will actually keep.
